Material and Design: What Makes It Tough

Inside, you’ve got a shortwave infrared halogen element, sitting in a quartz tube. The halogen cycle keeps the filament clean, so output stays steady over the life of the lamp. Quartz handles the shock of rapid on/off cycling without cracking. And the R7s base? It’s a direct-contact, bi-pin design that gives you a solid connection and makes the lamp a simple drop-in replacement for machines already set up for this footprint.

On the Floor: Speed, Heat, and What to Keep an Eye On

Out on the shop floor, this setup heats the PET preform surface directly. The infrared energy sinks in fast, which means quick heat-up and shorter cycle times. But here’s the trade-off. This lamp runs hot. That heat is exactly what you want—but the surrounding parts have to live with the temperature. Make sure the reflector assembly and airflow are spec’d correctly. If cooling isn’t enough, you’ll shorten the life of the lamp and the nearby electronics. It gives you the heat you need. Just keep that thermal load managed.
