
Let’s talk about the 355mm Quartz Halogen Heater
If you’re running a PET stretch blow molding line, you know the preheating stage is where the magic happens. That’s why we built these quartz halogen lamps. They basically take electricity and turn it into short-wave infrared heat, softening your PET preforms just enough so they’re ready to hit the mold. The power side of things We went with a 440V 2000W setup because it’s a powerhouse. By using 440V over that 355mm length, we can push 2kW of power without things getting unstable. It’s fast. Really fast. And that’s exactly what you need to get those preforms up to temperature quickly. But a word of caution: make sure your wiring can actually handle 440V. If it can’t, you’re looking at a premature burnout. Plus, if your voltage dips, your heat drops. That’s how you end up with bottles that have weird, uneven walls. Why quartz and halogen? The outer shell is high-purity quartz. We use this because it doesn’t freak out when the temperature swings wildly—it won’t crack under thermal shock. Inside, there’s a halogen cycle going on. It basically pushes the tungsten back onto the filament so it doesn’t thin out and snap too soon. Since the quartz is so clear, the infrared energy shoots straight through and hits the plastic. No wasted heat. Fitting them into your line These are designed to be simple drop-in replacements for most standard PET ovens. They get up to speed quickly, which is a lifesaver when you’re pushing for high-speed production. Just keep one thing in mind: 2000W in such a small space creates a lot of intense heat.**Check your cooling fans.**If they aren’t humming along perfectly, your lamp sockets could literally melt. If the air isn’t moving, the lamps won’t last. I’d also suggest popping the hood every few months to check the contact points for oxidation. Keep those connections tight, and you’ll be in good shape.
