When the lamp heats up, those spots cause the glass to stress and crack. Just keep some lint-free gloves handy during the install. One last thing—because this element runs so hot, check your cooling fans. If you don’t move the ambient heat away from the chassis, you’ll end up cooking the electrical components sitting nearby.
